Frank Lincoln
Frank Lincoln has been an avid painter of Folk Art since 1999 when he first painted a picture from a photo of his family in AuSable Forks. Since then he has painted close to 100 pictures ranging from local landscapes to village scenes. Frank works in acrylic paints as the solvents in oil paint fumes make it difficult to breath with his lung condition. Some of Frank's paintings have been featured in art shows both in Lake Placid and in Saranac Lake. Folk Art paintings are not Frank's only medium of expression. He has made many windmill sculptures of wood in which birds fly and woodsmen cut logs or split wood each having moving parts which move in the wind. Frank also made many wood carvings and wood cut designs using his router and highlighting the details with paints and stains. As his lung disease progressed, Frank had to gradually stop using his router, saws and sander because the sawdust impaired his breathing. Although Frank's physical condition prevents him from enjoying many of his favorite pastimes such as nature walks and deer hunting, Frank is still able to sit by his window and paint Folk Art scenes on rough cut wood panels or on canvas as he watches the sun cross the sky and his beloved AuSable River flow gently past his home. Frank and his devoted wife, Charlene remain a great inspiration and encouragement to their many family and friends. Below, Frank shows off some of his paintings:
